Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that MFD, Gary White, body parts scattered on the ground after being hit by Jeep Grand Cherokee while on motorcycle in Getwell exit, I-240.

A Memphis firefighter died in a motorcycle crash on I-240 Sunday evening, according to the president of the Memphis Fire Fighters Union. READ MORE HERE

That crash killed Gary White, a driver with the Memphis Fire Department, union president Thomas Malone told FOX13 News. White received a promotion to driver in 2021. He served with MFD for 27 years, according to the Memphis Fire Fighters Union.

White’s motorcycle crashed around 10:30 p.m. on I-240 near Getwell Road, according to the Memphis Police Department. White lost control of his motorcycle after striking a Jeep Grand Cherokee, police said.

According to a police report, several cars were unable to avoid White as he lay on the interstate. He died at the scene.

The crash shut down that section of I-240 for about five hours. The Tennessee Highway Patrol said state troopers arrested two drivers and a passenger after driving into he crime scene.

The Memphis Fire Fighters Association said in a social media post Monday morning, “We’re saddened to learn of the death of Driver Gary White, who died in an off-duty traffic accident. Brother White had been with the Memphis Fire Department since March 1998. May his family both at home and the fire station be comforted during this difficult time.”
