Information reaching Kossyderrickent has it that Police officer, Patrolman Mak Mak Mark Ornopia, shot dead in P. Del Pilar Street, Danao City.

A police officer responding to an armed person alarm along P. Del Pilar Street in Barangay Poblacion, Danao City was killed after being shot by the suspect, who was also shot in return around 12:20 p.m. Friday, June 27, 2025. READ MORE HERE

The officer, identified as Police Patrolman Mark Gomer Ornopia Sr., a member of the Danao City Police Station, was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead a few minutes later.

Initial information from the Cebu Police Provincial Office stated that the suspect had forcibly taken a firearm from a security guard at an establishment in the area, prompting a call for police assistance.

Ornopia, along with personnel from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) who happened to be nearby, quickly responded. The suspect, however, opened fire using the stolen firearm.

BJMP personnel fired back, hitting the suspect in the body.
